0800 numbers Simplified to help consumers


Cloud 0800 freephone numbers - Simple TelecomsCalls to 0800 and 0808 freephone telephone numbers could be free from all phones, including mobiles, under new proposals published by Ofcom.

This major step by Ofcom is part of detailed plan to tackle customer confusion about how much it costs to call businesses, public services and other organisations on 03, 08, 09 and 118 numbers.

Currently, the vast majority of 0800 and 0808 telephone numbers incur a charge of up to 21p a minute when called from a mobile phone. However Under Ofcom's proposals, calls to 0800 and 0808 numbers from a mobile would be free for consumers, keeping in line with landlines.
