Low Cost Phone Service For The ElderlyHome2Phone - Move your home number on to our 4G routerPerfect replacement to your copper telephone line and protects you from ever losing your telephone number - Home2Phone
Low Cost Phone Service For The Elderly - Unlike most other providers, the Home2Phone service is not a call divert system. Instead, it's a smart and flexible alternative to a traditional landline. With Home2Phone, your existing home phone number is transferred to a special SIM card inside a 4G router. And as the service is powered by the mobile network operator EE you can take your phone service with you almost anywhere.
No need to disconnect your number or switch to a mobile just to save money. Simply plug your current telephone handset into the Home2Phone router, and you're ready to make and receive calls – it’s that simple. Plus, the router comes with a built-in battery backup for peace of mind during power cuts.
For many people – especially seniors – keeping the same home phone number is important. Home2Phone makes that possible, without the need for a mobile phone or app. Calls are routed over the reliable EE 4G network at a highly competitive rate, making it an ideal and affordable digital replacement for a traditional landline.
Switching to a mobile to save money may not be a good idea long term Switching to a mobile phone service to save money from a fixed line might seem like a smart move - but it may not be a good long-term solution. Not everyone finds mobile phones easy to use as time goes on. People can struggle with changing technology, forget to keep their phones charged, or even lose them. And if you disconnect your home number and later want to return to a fixed (digital) line, your number may no longer be available.
Under Ofcom regulations, you only have 30 days after disconnection to reclaim your number - after that, it’s no longer possible.
Need Internet? No Problem! - With Home2Phone services, you can add data to your SIM card, giving you full internet access via the router’s WiFi. A data plan can be added or removed at any time, and we have a number of plans to choose from - just let us know. Instead of disconnecting your home number, simply transfer it to our Home2Phone 4G router. And safeguard your telephone number. Works with any standard telephone handset
No Openreach installation or infrastructure required.

Home2Phone is specifically designed to replace your traditional landline with a special SIM and router, no mobile or App is required to use the service.Unlike many similar services, ours doesn’t require an app or mobile data to work. It also doesn’t rely on VoIP to make or receive calls. Simply plug your standard telephone handset into the router, and you’re ready to go. Need internet too? You can easily add a data plan if required. It’s more affordable for people to contact you, as they’re dialling a landline number rather than a mobile one.Not everyone has a calls included call plan. So more cost-effective for people to call you since they're dialling your landline number instead of calling you on a mobile number. Your home landline number will always be displayed on outbound calls. Even though this is a SIM-based service, your home telephone number will always be displayed - not a mobile number. Anyone calling your home number will reach you just as they normally would. Never miss a call from your doctor, hospital, or loved ones again by keeping your landline number active.By keeping your home number and not switching entirely to a mobile phone, you’ll never have to notify anyone that your landline is disconnected. That means no more missed calls from your doctor, hospital, or loved ones.

If you're planning to transfer your telephone number(s) to a new provider, the provider you're moving to will handle the process. Customers who have previously ported their number(s) out of Simple Telecoms' Home2Phone service to another provider will not be eligible for a free port back to Simple Telecoms until 36 months have passed since the original port-out date, regardless of any current or future promotions on Simple Telecoms' website or in the press. If you'd like to port your number back to us within this 36-month period, there will be a fee. Additionally, the telephone number must remain active and fully paid up until the transfer is complete to be eligible for porting to a new provider. Will my Care Alarm still work ? This service operates over a 4G GSM phone network, so most care alarms that rely on a traditional telephone line should continue to function. However, we strongly recommend confirming compatibility with your alarm provider before committing to the Home2Phone service. If there's any uncertainty, we suggest considering a direct GSM-based alarm system as an alternative. Check you have signal - EE mobile signal check We recommend checking your EE mobile coverage beforehand. Also consider the following factors:
- Your Location - The further you are from a mobile phone mast, the weaker your signal will be.
- This weaker signal affects quality, reducing call clarity
- Your Local Environment - Hills, buildings, basements, or underground locations can all impact your phone's signal.
- The Weather - Weather conditions like rain and snow can temporarily degrade your router signal.
Additionally, keep in mind that you may not always be connected to the same mobile cell tower. Networks manage customer connections based on the current load on each cell site. You might be switched to a more distant cell site if the nearest one is too busy, which can result in poorer audio quality and slower data. If you are in any doubt we would recommend having a fixed Digital line instead. About mobile Broadband Speeds Adding a Broadband plan - The highest throughput speed achievable with mobile data services is "Best Case" and reflects optimal conditions typical of mobile broadband services. Given the inherent variability in mobile data networks, accurately forecasting speeds is not possible. Specific data speeds aren't guaranteed by mobile networks, hence we cannot ensure consistent attainment of particular speeds. Your chosen Telephone and Broadband package comes with a monthly usage/data limit, which you must not surpass. We'll send you email notifications as you approach this limit. Should you exceed the threshold, we'll reach out to you via email or text messages. In such instances, we may automatically enforce appropriate restrictions on your data service. All our packages are in accordance with our Acceptable Use Policy. ^^Pro rata’ bundle allowance and Data Caps Pro-rata Bundle Allowance: If you subscribe to the service partway through the month, you'll receive a proportionate share of the data allowance based on the days remaining in the billing cycle. For example, if you join on the 15th of the month with a 10GB data plan, you'll be entitled to around 5GB for the rest of that month.
Once your data limit is reached, the data service will automatically pause until the start of the next month. This suspension cannot be bypassed. The data allowance is valid within the UK and includes 25% of the allowance for roaming in EU Zone 1. Data packages are capped, and once your data is used up, it will be disabled until the next billing cycle. If you wish to remove a data plan we require 30-days notice. Numbering & Porting your home number/s You will receive a standard mobile number during the setup process if you do not have a number to port. Home2Phone accounts are not limited to a single number; however, only one number can be designated as the default outgoing Caller Line Identification (CLI). Porting your home number to Home2Phone is free across all packages, but it is only supported from range holders with whom Simple Telecoms has a direct porting agreement. Please note that non-geographic number porting is currently unavailable. The process of porting your existing home number to the Home2Phone service typically takes about 10 working days. Additionally, we can add a new telephone number to your Home2Phone service within 24 hours. Access to Emergency Services
The service is provided in accordance with Ofcom regulations and can support emergency services calls. Once the service is activated for the customer, calls to the 999/112 public emergency services will be routed to one of several national emergency call handling agents. Please note that the agent may not be the closest to the area code associated with the calling CLI. The presented CLI will always reflect the user’s designated default CLI as specified by the end user.
When dialling the emergency services, the call may be identified as a VoIP service from Simple Telecoms, prompting the emergency services operator to verify the caller’s address using the National Database. It is the user’s responsibility to ensure that their address information is kept up to date with us.
Calls to emergency services will display a CLI associated with the default Home2Mobile service. However, as a mobile service, Home2Mobile may not always be available in certain situations, such as:
- During a mobile operator service outage, which could result from a power failure, cell site malfunction, or lack of mobile coverage.
- If the end customer’s account has been suspended.
Additionally, it is important for end users to understand that emergency personnel may need to confirm both their identity and location when they make a call.
International and Premium rate numbers - Block numbers outbound To safeguard all our customers, call barring for International and Premium rate numbers starting 09, 118 and some 08 numbers will be applied automatically to the Home2Phone line. Please note - Due to Ofcom directive classifying certain (not all) 08 numbers as premium rate, you will still be unable to call some 08 numbers as they are now classed as Premium rate numbers, premium rate barring cannot be removed, unlike the international call barring, which can be removed. Ofcom directive classifying certain 08 numbers as premium rate in these charge bands, SC011, SC13, SC014, SC047, SC075, SC092, SC093.
Home2Phone - FAQsWhy is the an upfront cost? We get asked this a lot. Contrary to popular belief, every provider incurs a cost to connect a customer. To recover this cost, it's typically built into the contract terms - this is why you're often tied into 12, 18, or 24-month agreements. These contracts ensure the provider can recover their connection costs from you, one way or another. In some cases, even if you're out of contract, there may still be fees for disconnecting or migrating your service. You could even end up paying more over the term of your contract. We don’t operate like that. Instead, we charge a clear, upfront activation, connection or installation fee. By doing this, we eliminate early termination or disconnection fees - simple, fair, and transparent. I would like to hide the router away. But what about the handset connection? We get asked this quite often. Typically, a cordless handset connects directly to the router, and the handset needs to be placed on its base for charging. This means that hiding the router isn't possible, as it would also hide the phone's base.
If you're looking to hide the router out of sight, we recommend the Liberty 200 Amplified Digital Cordless Phone with a mini DECT base. This handset features a mini base that is separate from the handset, meaning the base connects to the router while the cordless handset can be placed anywhere in the home. There's no need for it to be docked for charging, as the handset has its own independent charging base. Just give us a call if you would like more information. How is the router connected and installed? The Home2Phone router is plug-and-play, meaning no engineer visit is required. The router is fully set up and tested before being shipped. Once you receive it, simply connect your telephone handset, power up the router, and you're online within minutes.
Please note, if you're transferring your telephone number to us, this process may take up to 10 working days. If you need a temporary number in the meantime, just let us know. Can I run the Home2Phone on mobile phone as well? Yes, however, you will need to have a separate monthly subscription. When a call comes in on your main landline number, both the home phone and the mobile phone will ring. However, you cannot transfer a call between the handsets. Can anyone have this service, or just Pensioners and Retired People? NO, anyone can have the Home2Phone service, as long as you are over 18 years old, and pass security and credit checks. Will the service work outside the country? You can take the router to 11 EU countries without incurring any roaming charges. For further details, please contact our customer service team at 0330 122 0000. Please note that additional roaming charges may apply, and a deposit could be required. Once you click the "Request a Free Quote" button and fill out the online form, we'll provide you with a detailed cost breakdown. If you’re happy with the quote, just complete the direct debit form included in our email, and we’ll handle the rest. If you are getting a new number, this process usually takes about 48 hours, and your router and SIM will be delivered via DHL. Please note that transferring your landline number to your SIM/router takes approximately 10 working days to complete. We can provide a temporary telephone number if needed, just let us know. How much will it cost to port my home telephone number? Moving your home telephone number into the Home2Phone service is dependent on your call plan and if you are an existing Simple Telecoms customer.
Can I move my telephone number to a different provider? Yes, however, the provider you are moving to will be responsible for this process. Customers that have ported their telephone number out of the Home2Mobile network to another provider will not be eligible for a free of charge port back to the Simple Telecoms network until the term of 36 months has passed from the original port out date, irrespective of any current or future offers being advertised in the press or Simple Telecoms websites. Should you wish to move your telephone number back to us within the 36-month period, there would be a cost to do so. Can I lift the barring of the International and Premium rate numbers? To safeguard all our customers, call barring for International and Premium rate numbers starting 09, 118 and some 08 numbers will be applied automatically to the Home2Mobile line. Please note - Due to Ofcom directive classifying certain (not all) 08 numbers as premium rate, you will still be unable to call some 08 numbers as they are now classed as Premium rate numbers, premium rate barring cannot be removed, unlike the international call barring, which can be removed from "Zone One" without a deposit. Ofcom directive classifying certain 08 numbers as premium rate in these charge bands, SC011, SC13, SC014, SC047, SC075, SC092, SC093. How reliable is the Home2Phone service? The Home2Phone service is very reliable, as it runs on the UK EE mobile network. However, it is dependent on coverage in your area for making and receiving calls, which is beyond our control. If the service is used outside the UK (roaming), it typically connects to the local network that EE has an agreement with. However, not all services or reliability can be guaranteed when roaming outside EE's main UK network. How long is the contract? As with almost all our services, the contract is a 30-day rolling contract, with 30 days’ notice for disconnection. There is NO disconnection cost to pay. You will also lose your telephone number if you terminate the service without moving your telephone number to a new provider or service. What if I have a power cut? Using the Home2Phone router means that a power outage won't impact your service - at least until your router runs out of battery. However, if you're relying on the router for WiFi calling (typically used in areas with poor coverage), this feature will stop working when the router goes offline. In such cases, your mobile phone should switch to the local cell tower for calls. However, if you have weak coverage, this may affect your service until your router is back online.
Other mains powerd equipment required to make calls will need to have an independent backup system.
Information on Data usage - Home2Phone ServiceStremming services like Netflix and IPTV According to Netflix guidelines, watching a TV show or movie in standard definition usually requires approximately 1GB of data per hour, while streaming in HD can use up to 3GB of data per hour. Users can adjust data usage settings in their Netflix accounts to lower bandwidth usage and decrease overall data consumption. However, we advise against continuous streaming of these services on low data plans. How long does 10GB of data last? Bandwidth usage depends on what quality setting you choose. Activity Time duration with 10GB. * Data comsumption is estermated.
- Watching Netflix - 10 hours (standard definition) 3 hours (HD) -
- Watching YouTube videos - 6 hours (1080p) 3 hours (4K)
- Browsing social media - 111 hours (scrolling) 64 hours (interacting)
- Using Skype / FaceTime - Skype 37 hours FaceTime 55 hours
We recommend a data plan of 30GB or higher for optimal use of these services Does Alexa of Google Home use a lot of data? Like a mobile phone, the amount of data consumed depends on how you utilize the device. If you're continuously streaming radio programs or music, it will naturally consume more data compared to occasional questions or commands. However, sending and receiving voice packets isn't as data-intensive as video. For instance, streaming audio on Alexa typically uses up to 256Kbps, amounting to just over 100MB per hour. To reach a single GB of data, you'd need approximately 10 hours of music and commands.
Important information on The Home2Phone ServiceCooling Off Period - Please read All new orders include a statutory 14-day cooling-off period starting from the date you agree to our services. This meens you will not be charged for any service rental for the 14 days if you decide to canncel the service, you may still be charged for usage of the service within those 14 days. You need to return any equipment we've sent you. Please make sure it's undamaged and in its original packaging. However, this does include refunds of activation or installation costs. In some cases, we may expedite your installation or activation; however, if your service is activated within these 14 days, you forfeit your right to cancel. If an ongoing order is canceled, no additional orders will be accepted for the same name, address, or telephone number for 36 months from the order cancellation date. Credit Limit and Credit Check If you’re an existing Simple Telecoms customer switching to Home2Phone, we won’t carry out a credit check. When you apply for any telephone or Broadband service contract with us we will perform a hard credit check on the user and the address the service is being provided at. We may also credit check the bill payer if different to the user. This will involve a credit reference agency to confirm your identity/s. They'll also examine your financial records and borrowing history. Using this information provided by the credit-rating agency, which in our case is Creditsafe. We will then make a decision whether to accept you for the contract/service you’ve applied for. This decision is made solely by our credit-checking team based on the information from Creditsafe. A credit check is ONLY performed once a direct Debit has been set up with us, as this is regarded as an acceptance of our terms and conditions, and intent to apply for a service. If your credit rating prevents you from getting a contract from us we may offer a tailored solution for people with bad credit. If your application is accepted a credit limit will be placed on the account for any chargeable calls. This safeguards our customers from running up a large bill. If this credit limit is reached outbound calls will be barred other than 999 freephone and the NHS helplines. Call spend Warnings can be set up within our online billing system, and we strongly recommend this is done. Please note. Any credit check performed be it on the end user and or the bill payer will show on your/their credit history. Who is CreditSafe? - Creditsafe, are global intelligence experts, specialise in business and consumer credit checking, and is the world's most used provider of online credit reports.
