Many people, particularly older adults, find mobile phones difficult to use over time. Technology can change quickly, small screens and complex menus can become confusing, and it’s easy to forget to keep a mobile phone charged or even misplace it. As a result, many people who replace their home phone with a mobile later realise they miss the simplicity and reliability of a traditional telephone. That’s why solutions like Home2Phone provide a simple alternative, allowing people to keep using a familiar home phone while benefiting from modern digital networks. ![]() Home2Phone is Ideal if you need a telephone line only in a Care Home Why Home2Phone is Ideal for Care Home ResidentsHome2Phone is a simple 4G home phone service for care homes, giving residents a reliable telephone connection without broadband or a traditional landline. Data plans renew monthly on the same date they were first activated. For example, if activated on the 15th, the plan will renew on the 15th of each month. Once your data allowance is used, the service will pause until the next billing cycle unless an out-of-bundle data top-up is purchased. You will receive an email alert when 90% of your allowance has been used. Data allowances are valid in the UK and include up to 25% roaming usage in EU Zone 1. Pension Credit Tariff - Telephone Only plan informationHome2Phone Pension Credit Tariff, Eligibility and Important InformationRead important information about the Home2Phone Pension Credit tariff, including eligibility, care alarm guidance, EE mobile signal checks, contract terms, cancellation, annual proof of entitlement and line rental pricing. Important notice: Home2Phone is a mobile-based service that operates through a 4G router or GSM handset. This service is not suitable for, or recommended for use with, a care alarm or other life-critical monitoring equipment that depends on a telephone line. It is connected at your own risk. This service is not suitable for monitored medical or life-critical systems. If the care alarm is completely independent and does not require a telephone line to function, then the Home2Phone service may still be used safely. You are eligible for our Home2Phone social tariff if you receive Pension Credit or Guarantee Credit, which is a top-up to Pension Credit. At present, we do not offer the Home2Phone social tariff to customers receiving other benefits or credit support. We will ask for proof that you are receiving Pension Credit or Guarantee Credit, along with your National Insurance number, so we can verify eligibility for the tariff. The contract and the Direct Debit must both be in the end user’s name and at the service address. Payment is only available by Direct Debit. If you are already a customer and have recently started receiving Pension Credit, we can move you to this tariff free of charge. Please note: Pension Credit call plans are available only with the Basic telephone package. If mobile data or internet access is required, a different Home2Phone call plan that includes data will need to be selected. After 12 months from activation, we will ask you to send updated proof that you are still receiving Pension Credit. If you remain eligible and want to continue on the Pension Credit tariff, the plan can continue for a further 12 months. There may be a small adjustment to the monthly rental after this period to reflect changes in the wider economy and the telecoms market. The Pension Credit tariff is provided on a 30-day rolling contract. You can cancel at any time without early exit fees. We will ask you to return the router to us within 30 days to avoid a charge. If you are planning to transfer your telephone number to a new provider, the provider you are moving to will handle the transfer process. Customers who have previously ported their number out of Simple Telecoms’ Home2Phone service to another provider will not be eligible for a free port back to Simple Telecoms until 36 months have passed since the original port-out date, regardless of any current or future promotions. If you want to port your number back within this 36-month period, a fee will apply. The telephone number must remain active and fully paid up until the transfer is complete in order to be eligible for porting to a new provider. We strongly recommend checking your EE mobile signal before ordering. Home2Phone operates only over the EE mobile network. Although the service allows a standard telephone handset to be connected to a 4G router, or used in a GSM phone, it remains a mobile-based phone service and is not a like-for-like replacement for a fixed digital landline. Performance depends on mobile network conditions, including signal strength, local coverage, environmental interference and network congestion. Because of this, users may experience call quality issues, intermittent service or dropped calls, which are common limitations of mobile networks. Mobile network performance, including coverage, is controlled entirely by EE and is outside our control. We do not recommend relying on this service for a care alarm. We recommend using a fixed digital line for any care alarm that requires a telephone line to operate. If the care alarm is completely independent and does not need a telephone line, then Home2Phone may still be suitable. No line rental increases for 12 months – Pension Credit tariff. From the activation date, your line rental cost will remain fixed for 12 months. This fixed price does not include charges for data usage or any out-of-bundle services. Each year on 1 April, the monthly cost of services may increase by the rate of inflation plus 3.9%, but only after the initial 12-month period has ended. If your call plan changes during the 12-month period, the original timeframe continues. Your 12-month price guarantee does not restart. Complete Geemarc Liberty Cordless Handset & 4G Router PackageThe Geemarc X1 Liberty 2000 cordless handset and Geemarc CL2000 4G router package provides a simple and reliable care home telephone solution without the need for a digital line to be installed in to the room. The main advantage of this package is that the Liberty handset is fully compatible with the Geemarc 4G router and connects independently, meaning there is no need for a base station and a master handset to be located near the router. This allows the router to be placed wherever the mobile signal is strongest, while the handsets can be used anywhere in the room. The Geemarc Liberty handset is designed for ease of use, with large buttons, clear and loud audio, and a simple menu system, making it ideal for everyday use and for those who need a more accessible phone. The Geemarc 4G router uses the EE 4G mobile network to replace a traditional phone line, offering a plug-and-play setup with no broadband required, while allowing you to keep your home telephone number. Mobile Internet broadband can be added at a later date. The 4G router is not sold separately. ![]() ![]()
Important Information
Why Is There an Upfront Cost?We are asked this a lot. Every provider pays a cost to connect a customer through Openreach. Many providers recover that cost by tying customers into 12, 18 or 24-month contracts. That means you often end up paying connection costs over the full term of the contract, and in some cases you may still face extra charges if you want to disconnect or move your service. We do things differently. Instead, we charge a clear upfront activation, connection or installation fee. This helps us avoid early termination or disconnection fees and keeps things simple, fair and transparent. Because our service is provided on a 30-day rolling contract, it can be disconnected straight away if needed. We will not make you jump through hoops to leave. We understand that circumstances can change, and the last thing you need is a difficult struggle just to get a telephone service disconnected. Pricing note: add £10.00 to the advertised basic package price when choosing the X2 Geemarc Liberty handset. On the Request a Quote page, you can select a dual-handset package if required. Additional handsets and the 4G router are not sold separately. Can be placed anywhere: the cordless handset comes with a small base unit, which is the only part that needs to be connected to the router. Once connected, the handset can be used anywhere in the home. Hearing aid compatible: designed for users with hearing aids. Set compatible hearing aids to the “T” setting when using the phone. Extra loud ringer: up to 75 dB for easier call alerts. Volume boost control: five adjustable volume levels and a boost button allow the receiver volume to be increased by up to 30 dB. VIP phonebook: store up to 60 numbers and allow calls only from selected numbers to help reduce nuisance and scam calls. Speed dial keys: save important numbers to keys 1, 2 and 3. Press and hold for automatic dialling. Large backlit display and large buttons: designed to improve readability and reduce misdialling for elderly users. Some phone features may not be compatible with a mobile-based digital line. If you add a mobile broadband plan, the highest possible data speed is a best-case estimate under ideal network conditions. Because mobile networks vary by location, coverage and network conditions, exact speeds cannot be guaranteed. We therefore cannot promise that a specific speed will always be available. Your chosen phone and broadband package comes with a monthly data allowance that must not be exceeded. We will send email notifications as you approach your limit, and if you go over it we may apply restrictions to your data service in line with our Acceptable Use Policy. When you add a mobile data plan to your SIM card, the renewal date is always based on the date the plan was first activated. For example, if your plan starts on the 15th of the month, it will renew on the 15th of every month. This helps keep your billing cycle consistent and easy to follow. Once your data limit is reached, the data service will pause automatically until the next billing cycle begins. You will also receive an email alert when you reach 90% of your data allowance. This pause cannot be bypassed unless you buy an out-of-bundle data top-up. Your allowance is valid in the UK and includes up to 25% of the allowance for roaming in EU Zone 1. If you wish to remove a data plan, 30 days’ notice is required. During setup, you will be given a standard mobile number for billing purposes. Home2Phone accounts can hold more than one number, but only one can be set as the default outgoing Caller Line Identification (CLI). Porting your existing home number is free across all packages, but only from providers with whom Simple Telecoms has a direct porting agreement. Non-geographic number porting is not currently available. Number porting usually takes around 10 working days. Adding a new phone number to your Home2Phone service can normally be completed within 24 hours. The Home2Phone service supports calls to 999 and 112 and is designed to comply with Ofcom regulations. Emergency calls are carried over the EE mobile network, and operators may verify the caller’s address using the National Database. It is therefore the user’s responsibility to keep their address details up to date. The CLI shown during an emergency call will be the default Home2Phone CLI on the account. Please note: emergency access may not be available in all situations because the service depends on mobile network availability. This may include mobile outages, power failures, cell site faults or lack of coverage. Emergency call handlers may also ask the caller to confirm their identity and exact location. To protect customers, call barring for international numbers, premium rate numbers starting 09, directory enquiries starting 118, and some 08 numbers is applied automatically to Home2Phone lines. Because some 08 numbers are classified by Ofcom as premium rate, you may still be unable to call certain 08 numbers. Premium rate call barring cannot be removed, but international call barring can be removed in some cases. These affected 08 premium rate charge bands include SC011, SC013, SC014, SC047, SC075, SC092 and SC093. Our Home2Phone service is NOT a divert service like most others services Unlike most other services that offer to connect your landline to a mobile SIM, this is not a simple call-forwarding service where calls are just redirected to a mobile number on a SIM. Instead, we provide you with a SIM card that has your home number directly on it. This means when you make calls, you can display your home number not a mobile number, something a standard call-forwarding service can’t offer. The service is not a VoIP service, so it doesn’t rely on data or require an app or mobile phone. Given the inherent variability in mobile data networks, accurately forecasting speeds is not possible. Specific data speeds aren't guaranteed by mobile networks, hence we cannot ensure consistent attainment of particular speeds. Your chosen Telephone and Broadband package comes with a monthly usage/data limit, which you must not surpass. We'll send you email notifications as you approach this limit. Should you exceed the threshold, we'll reach out to you via email or text messages. In such instances, we may automatically enforce appropriate restrictions on your data service. All our packages are in accordance with our Acceptable Use Policy. ^^Bundle allowance and Data Caps When you add a mobile data plan to your SIM card, the renewal date will always be based on the date the plan was first activated.
For example, if your plan is activated on the 15th of the month, it will renew on the 15th of every month thereafter. This ensures your data usage is billed consistently and makes it easy to keep track of your plan. Once your data limit is reached, the data service will automatically pause until the start of the next billing cycle. You will also receive an email alert when you reach 90% of your data allowance. This suspension cannot be bypassed unless you purchase an out-of-bundle data top-up.
Your data allowance is valid within the UK and includes 25% of the allowance for roaming in EU Zone 1. Data packages are capped, and once your allowance is used up, the service will be disabled until the next billing cycle. If you wish to remove a data plan, we require 30 days’ notice. Numbering & Porting your home number/s During setup, you will receive a standard mobile number for billing purposes. Home2Phone accounts can hold multiple numbers, but only one can be set as the default outgoing Caller Line Identification (CLI). Porting your existing home number is free across all packages, but only from providers with whom Simple Telecoms has a direct porting agreement. Non-geographic number porting is not currently available. Number porting typically takes around 10 working days, while adding a new telephone number to your Home2Phone service can be done within 24 hours Access to Emergency Services The Home2Phone service complies with Ofcom regulations and supports calls to emergency services. Once activated, 999/112 calls are routed via national emergency call handling agents, who may not be located near the caller’s area code. The CLI presented will always reflect the user’s designated default CLI. Emergency calls are carried over the EE mobile network, and operators may verify the caller’s address using the National Database. It is the user’s responsibility to keep their address details up to date. While emergency calls will display the default Home2Phone CLI, the service may not be available in all situations due to mobile network limitations, such as:

Home2Phone - FAQsCan I buy the 4G router without the handset bundel ? Unfortunately, we no longer sell the router on its own. This change is due to issues we experienced with non-digital and incompatible handsets and answer machines, which often caused problems for our support teams and led end users to mistakenly believe the router or service was faulty. Customers are welcome to purchase a Geemarc CL2000 from a third party. We will be happy to provide the EE Home2Phone SIM card and arrange for your number to be moved over. Please note, however, that we cannot provide support for the router, confirm handset or answer machine compatibility, or assist with any call-related problems resulting from using a handset other than a Geemarc model. Can I buy the EE Home2Phone SIM only ? Yes, We are happy to provide the Home2Phone SIM card, which can be used in any 4G base router of your choice. Please note that we cannot support third-party routers or assist with their setup. Click here for a SIM only order Why is the an upfront cost ? We get asked this a lot. Contrary to most providers, who recover connection costs through long contracts and hidden fees, we operate differently. Many providers tie customers into 12, 18, or 24-month agreements, sometimes charging fees even after the contract ends if you disconnect or switch services. We keep it simple: we charge a clear, upfront activation, connection, or installation fee. This means no early termination or disconnection charges, no surprises, and full transparency, just a fair and straightforward service. I would like to hide the router away. But what about the handset connection ? We get asked this quite often. The Geemarc Liberty cordless handset paired with the Geemarc CL2000 4G router offers a simple, reliable home phone solution without a traditional landline. The Liberty handset connects independently to the router, so no base station is needed, and the handset does not need to be near the router. This allows you to place the router where the mobile signal is strongest, while using the handset anywhere in your home or room. How is the router connected and installed ? The Home2Phone router is plug-and-play, meaning no engineer visit is required. The router is fully set up and tested before being shipped. Once you receive it, simply connect your telephone handset, power up the router, and you're online within minutes. Please note, if you're transferring your telephone number to us, this process may take up to 10/20 working days. AAll routers come with an active inline mobile number that can be used in the meantime. This number is also used for billing purposes. Can anyone have this service, or just Pensioners and Retired People ? NO, anyone can have the Home2Phone service, as long as you are over 18 years old, and pass security and credit checks. Will the service work outside the country ? You can take the router to 11 EU countries without incurring any roaming charges. For further details, please contact our customer service team at 0330 122 0000. Please note that additional roaming charges may apply, and a deposit could be required. How long to get started ? Home2Phone operates solely over the EE mobile network. Although the service allows a Geemarc Liberty telephone handset to be connected to a 4G router. However it remains a mobile-based solution and is not a like-for-like replacement for a fixed digital landline. As a result, users may encounter call quality issues, intermittent service, or dropped calls, common limitations inherent to all mobile services. The router includes an internal battery backup that exceeds Ofcom’s requirement to maintain service for a minimum of one hour during a power outage. Please note that any other mains-powered equipment, such as cordless handsets, telecare devices, or care alarms, will not receive power from the router. These devices will require their own independent battery backup or an alternative power source to continue operating during a power cut.
To ensure you can still make or receive calls during a power outage, we recommend keeping a corded telephone available that can be plugged directly into the router. This will allow continued access to the telephone service if cordless or mains-powered handsets do not have their own battery backup.
Power Backup at Mobile Masts / Mobile Network Resilience
There is currently no Ofcom regulatory minimum requirement for how long mobile mast sites must maintain power during a power outage. As a result, mobile network availability during extended power cuts cannot be guaranteed. Important Notice Please note: This is a mobile-based service that operates via a 4G router. They'll also examine your financial records and borrowing history. Using this information provided by the credit-rating agency, which in our case is Creditsafe. We will then make a decision whether to accept you for the contract/service you’ve applied for. This decision is made solely by our credit-checking team based on the information from Creditsafe.
