Spain changes to the consumer rights law for cold calling

Changes to the Spanish consumer law

1. One of the main changes to the Spanish consumer law is that will be it will become illegal for companies to withhold there telephone numbers, and its also illegal to call between 9pm and 9am, this also includes all weekends and bank holidays.

2. Companies will be obliged to identify themselves before any offers or services are mentioned or offered.

3. If the client has requested not to be contacted again from the companies/s and they continue to call the client then compensation must be paid to the client.

4. If a client takes up an offer or service over the phone the company is obliged to supply a paper invoice detailing what the client has signed up for.

Also some another changes included companies will have to supply paper billing, unless requested electronically by the client, and no extra charge.

Apparently these changes have been passed and should be live very soon.
